Yesterday, the organisers of the Gorizian Camino set off on the first trial route, which will take pilgrims from the Basilica di Aquileia to Sveta Gora. The route is 80 km long and divided into four stages.
"This first trial camino is essential to test the route and to set up the first markers," explains Mattia Vecchi, Project Manager for the Basilica di Aquileia, who adds: "The route is now ready and will soon be walked by pilgrims who will enjoy the beauty of the cross-border territory and discover its history, roots, wounds, scars and rebirth."
On the first day of the walk, the organisers walked the first 28 km dedicated to "roots". They started in Aquileia and arrived in Sagrado. Today, they walked an additional 22 km of the second stage from Sagrado to Mirenski grad (Miren castle).
"Tomorrow starts the third stage, which will lead the organisers from Mirenski grad to Gorizia and which is dedicated to the "scars" with a scheduled start at 8.00 a.m., while on Sunday it will be the turn of the last stage dedicated to the "flowering" through both Gorizia and Nova Gorica and the final climb to Sveta Gora. Everyone is welcome to join the organisers", said Nace Novak, Project Manager for Sveta Gora.
