On the occasion of the eighth edition of the Geografie Literary Festival, held from March 25th to 29th in Piazza della Repubblica in the center of Monfalcone, the presentation of the Gorizia Camino guide took place on Thursday, March 26th.
The two authors of the guide spoke about this 82-kilometer-long cross-border trail—which unfolds in four stages from Aquileia, famous for its early Christian mosaics, to Monte Santo (Sveta Gora), one of the most important pilgrimage centers in Slovenia. The authors are theologian, walker, and writer Andrea Bellavite, who curated the itinerary on Italian territory, and traveler, travel writer, and journalist Nace Novak, who designed the route on Slovenian soil.
The dialogue regarding the guide and the path—thematically divided into three parts: roots, wounds, and rebirth, and marked by the symbol of the Solomon's knot—was moderated by Martina Kafol of Editoriale Stampa Triestina (ZTT), which published the work in collaboration with the Ediciclo Editore publishing house.
The guide is the result of a unique editorial collaboration and has been published in Italian, Slovenian, and English (ZTT handled the Slovenian edition, Ediciclo the Italian one, while the English version was born from their joint cooperation). In addition to the detailed description of the stages, the guide includes historical insights into the area, maps, accommodation contacts, and photographs by Mattia Vecchi.
The next presentation of the book will be held on April 15th, 2026, at the Knjigarna kavarna Maks bookstore-café in Nova Gorica.
The project is funded by the European Union under the Small Project Fund (SPF) GO! 2025 of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 program, managed by the EGTC GO.
